Location

The library is temporarily located in a trailer across the street from the Visitor's Main Entrance and next to the physician's parking lot on the corner of 6th Street and 8th Avenue. Campus Map

Access

The library is open to all current employees of New York Methodist Hospital, attending physicians, resident physicians and medical students on rotation at the hospital. All library users must wear their hospital ID badge.

For access after hours, patrons must go to the Main Security Desk. Brief access is permitted for medical emergencies only.

Public Access Computers

  • The library has six (6) public access computers.
  • You can access programs on the NYM network and the Internet.
  • You may print up to 30 pages of medical information per session at no charge.
  • You must be an NYM employee or affiliate to use the computers.
  • You may not change the settings or add programs to the computers.
  • You may not print any patient records or personal patient information (HIPPA).
Photocopier

  • The photocopier is used to copy from library books and journals.
  • You may make single copies only, not multiple copies.
  • You may copy up to 30 pages of library material per session at no charge.
  • You may not copy any patient records or personal patient information (HIPPA).
Print/Copy Charges

There will be a charge of 10 cents a page if you print more than 30 pages per session, for personal information and duplicate copies. Charges are not reduced if you supply your own paper.

Borrowing Library Materials

Loan Periods

  • Regular books: 2 weeks
  • Reserve books: overnight and over the weekend.
  • Prebound journals: 1 week
  • DVDs, Audio & Video Cassettes: 1 week
  • Board Review Books: most circulate overnight or over the weekend.
  • Regular journals: do not circulate
  • Reference books: do not circulate
Renewals--may be made by phone (x5197), if items are renewable and not already overdue.

Fines--There are no overdue fines. When an item is lost or damaged, the borrower must pay for the cost of replacement. Borrowing privileges will be suspended until the overdue item is returned or paid for.
